Houston-based Midway collaborated with the Upper Kirby District to renovate the nearly six-acre park into a mixed-use environment. The $10 million project will include amenities such as a performance pavilion, an event lawn and a dog park.
Midway has already started building a Class A office building adjacent to the construction at Levy Park. The 16-story office area will include 225,000-square-feet of office space and 25,000-square-feet for restaurant and retail space on the ground floor, as well as a parking garage.
In addition to the park and the offices, a mid-rise residential tower is also being built. The 10,000-square-foot residence will occupy 270 one and two bedroom luxury apartments.
Construction for the park renovation broke ground on Monday and is expected to take about a year to rebuild.
Due to the construction, Levy Park will be closed to the public until the improvements are completed.
