HOUSTON – A medical clinic employee has admitted trying to record video of an MRI patient without her clothes on, police said.
Pedro Ortiz, 34, is charged with with improper photography / video recording following the discovery of his cellphone within feet of where a woman was getting dressed, police said.
"I was there for an MRI. He was the one helping me with that," the 26-year-old woman said.
The crime allegedly happened last Thursday at CHI St. Luke's Health Diagnostic and Treatment Center.
The clinic, which offers a variety of health screenings and procedures, is located at 2457 South Braeswood.
Ortiz was in court Monday to hear the misdemeanor charge against him. His bond was set $2,000.
The patient said she discovered the phone half-hidden near a trash can while she was getting dressed.
She said by looking at the cellphone, she discovered the phone belonged to Ortiz, and he was the same man who helped her with her MRI.
Thursday afternoon, CHI St. Luke's issued a statement about the allegations.
"A top priority for CHI St. Luke's Health is the protection of the privacy of our patients and their families. We take this situation very seriously and are cooperating fully with police during this investigation. Additionally, we are conducting a thorough internal investigation of the allegations following our established policies.
