HOUSTON – Escape the heat this weekend with the coolest free activities.
The Bear Creek Copperfield Jazzercise Center is celebrating 35 years on Saturday; and you get the gift. Head to the studio at 15544 Ridge Park for free classes from 7:15-11:45 a.m. They include burlesque, Latin, hip hop and classic dance mix. Every class is free and there is free childcare for most. Bass Pro Shops Family Summer Camp starts this weekend and runs through July 26. There are free crafts and workshops on camping, fishing, shooting and outdoor sports every Saturday, Sunday, Tuesday and Thursday. Your kids can earn pins for the classes. There are two Bass Pro Shops in our area, in Katy and Pearland. See workshop times and description at each location here.
Stop by the Frost Bank Harrisburg Financial Center at 1001 Broadway on Saturday from noon until 2 p.m. for free treats to keep you cool from Berry Ices.
If you're up in The Woodlands, head to the Waterway for live music and strolling entertainers Saturday for Waterway Nights. Fireworks start at 9:20 p.m.
Also, keep your kids safe with a free helmet. The Justice 4 Children Foundation will give away 250 to the first parents or guardians to register by calling, texting or emailing the group. To pre-register, call 713-419-1776 with the name of the parent or adult guardian, number and age of the children, email address and call back number. You can also simply email the same details to info@penninoandpartners.com. The parent or guardian of the first 250 children to be registered will receive a confirmation via phone or email to participate. Then pick up the helmets Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at KCOH Radio at 5011 Almeda Road.
