Agencies offering assistance to Meyerland homeowners
Gianna Caserta
HOUSTON – Figuring out where to start when it comes to rebuilding their homes is a daunting task for many Meyerland residents.
"It is just overwhelming," resident Tao Zhang said. "There are so many things to take care of. We are trying to find contractors to get a bid of how much it takes to remodel the house."
The Meyerland Community Improvement Association is hoping to make the process a little easier by setting up a one-stop-shop for homeowners to see what kind of assistance is available to them.
"The flood insurance covers part of the cost," Meyerland resident Laurent Culembourg said. "I am here to see if I can get additional help."
Representatives from the Red Cross, Mental Health America, FEMA and the Flood Management Office and Code Enforcement Department will be there to answer questions face to face.
The Meyerland Association office will be at 4999 West Bellfort St. from June 12 through June 14 from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
