HOUSTON – A burglar got away with nearly one dozen pairs of boots from Cavender's Boot City early Thursday.
Berenice Delgado, an assistant manager at the store, said she woke up to the alarm company calling her to report the burglary.
"They told me to get up and get [to the store]," Delgado said.
Surveillance video from inside the business shows a man in a light-colored shirt and pants breaking into the store around 1 a.m.
"He broke the glass, he broke the doors, the push bar and then squeezed through," store manager Louis Valusek said. "Very, very small area."
Valusek said the robber started bleeding when he squeezed through the small opening where the burglar bars are located on the front doors. The thief was inside for only a matter of minutes.
The store manager said the suspect targeted a specific shelf but took all right-footed boots.
"He got boots, but he didn't get what he thought he was getting," Valusek said. "The way we stock our boots at times is, depending on what we have, we put them behind each other and he basically got only one foot -- the right foot."
In total, the man got away with about $2,700 worth of boots.
