Rain creates flooding concerns for Montgomery County residents

MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – With more rain comes the fear of more flooding in areas near the San Jacinto River already having problems.

The recent rain has people living along the west fork of the San Jacinto River closely watching weather forecasts and the water creeping closer to their homes.

Water that flows out of Lake Conroe ends up in a neighborhood at Amber Road and Forrest Cove in the Northshore subdivision.

"Even if it stops raining, you still have to worry about it for like another 24 hours," resident Cheri Morrell said.

Montgomery County Emergency Management said the area had 6 to 8 inches of rain in the last five days. The National Weather Service predicts the additional two inches of rain Thursday will prolong the high water, but will not create a second crest.
