American Express launches cross-company loyalty program

HOUSTON – American Express is rolling out a new loyalty program, that doesn't require an Amex card.

Plenti allows U.S. shoppers to earn reward points through purchases at different companies and retailers. Best of all, it isn't tied to a single credit card company. Users can join for free. Every time members spend money, they receive "Plenti Points" that can be redeemed for money at Macy's, Rite-Aid and other companies.

A new study by Bankrate.com claims one in three Americans have never checked their credit report. The survey discovered 44 percent of seniors and 41 percent of millennials have never checked the important number before. Among those who have, 48 percent reviewed it at least once within the past year. Experts recommend getting an update at least three times a year, as it can often be the first indicator of identity theft.

Comcast is taking on YouTube. According to a new report, the company is planning an online video service focused on short-form content, just like YouTube. The purpose is to add new types of shows to Comcast's cable package and allow people to watch them on TV. A launch date for the project has not been set.
