Facebook adds video calling to messenger

Expect some changes to your Facebook account; Messenger will now feature a video icon at the top right corner of the screen.

This comes after Facebook introduced free video calling in its Messenger phone app.

The video calling will be available starting Tuesday to Messenger users with iPhones or Android devices in the U.S. and 17 other countries.

It is simple enough to elevate Messenger conversations from text or voice calls to video. You just merely tap a video icon to enter "see me-see-you" mode.

This all comes from Facebook in an effort to transform its mobile messaging service into a full-featured platform.

Messenger competes with Microsoft's Skype, Apple's FaceTime and Goggle's Hangouts, all of which allow video calls between mobile devices or computers and have been doing so for years.
