HOUSTON – A Houston family is celebrating after Hedwig Village police found the 5-week-old puppies stolen from their house.
Frank Hinnat tells KPRC 2 that police dropped the dogs off at his house right after 12 p.m. Sunday.
Amy Hinnant says their home was broken into on Friday afternoon.
Hinnant describes driving home from school, pulling into her driveway and immediately noticing a stranger in her garage.
"I saw my garage door open and a strange car in it with the back door open and someone going back and forth that shouldn't have been here," said Hinnant.
She tried blocking the thief from leaving the driveway but he managed to drive past her and sped off.
The family says he got away with pricey electronics, and also stole their puppies Sully, Sam and Zazrak from their litter.
"Anybody who knows our family knows what our German shepherds mean to us and every litter that we have is very special," said Frank Hinnant.
Amy Hinnant tells us the puppies weren't weaned from their mother's milk and that the parents are visibly confused about where their puppies went.
"That's what I cried myself thinking about last night was that these three babies were without their mom," she said.
Hedwig Village police said their investigation into the thieves is still underway.
