MONTGOMERY COUNTY, Texas – There are new developments in the trial surrounding the death of Robbie Middleton, a Splendora boy who was burned with gasoline more than 16 years ago.
A written statement from Don Collins will not be admitted in court. Collins is accused of setting Middleton on fire. He was 13 when the crime happened and his attorneys were trying to suppress his statement.

Middleton, who was severely disfigured after the incident, later died from cancer related to his burns.
After his death, charges against Collins were upgraded to capital murder.
