Suspect arrested in fatal shooting of man in northeast Houston

HOUSTON – Houston police have arrested a suspect in the fatal shooting of a man  in northeast Houston. Dewan Anderson, 35, is charged with murder.

The shooting happened in the at 8100 block of Record about 9 p.m. on December 9. 

According to Houston police, Anderson got into an argument with Carl Goines, 45, and at some point the argument escalated. 

As a witness tried to remove Goines from the scene, Anderson allegedly pulled out a pistol and fired several shots at Goines.  Goines attempted to flee, but fell a short distance away and died from his injuries. 

Anderson then fled the scene in a small, four-door, light-colored vehicle with a female passenger. 

Further investigation developed information that identified Anderson as the suspect.  Anderson was arrested without incident on Jan. 8.
