15-year-old accidentally shot while hunting in Liberty County
No description foundLIBERTY COUNTY, Texas – An accident involving a firearm put a Liberty County teenager in a Houston hospital Tuesday.
The Liberty County Sheriff's Office says a 15-year-old was taken to a hospital via Life Flight after his left side was struck by a .22 caliber pistol.
Deputies responded to the scene around 5 p.m. near Country Road 460 near Farm to Market Road 1409.
Authorities say the teenager and his uncle were hunting wild pigs and had killed one in a nearby wooded area.
The two were riding an ATV into the wooded area when the teenager's .22 caliber pistol fell to the ground and discharged.
