Husband charged after wife found dead at house in Spring

SPRING, Texas – A man who called authorities and told them he had shot his wife at their home in Spring was charged with murder Sunday.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, deputies were dispatched to 5602 Gage Spring Court at 5 a.m. where they found 24-year-old  Monica Marie Gaytan dead.

Her husband, 24-year-old Martin Gaytan said he and Monica had argued and she pointed a handgun at him. Authorities said Gaytan admitted he took the handgun away from his wife and shot her multiple times. 

HCSO homicide investigators were at the crime scene for several hours and interviewed Gaytan. 

Deputies said the couple had been married for approximately a year and they have a child who is 4 or 5 years old.
