Authorities say Magallanes and her 14-year-old granddaughter hid stolen items in their jackets and purses. They went through the checkout line and paid for some items but not the concealed items, according to the Friendswood Police Department.

Investigators say Magallanes and her granddaughther were confronted by a store employee who found $79 worth of stolen merchandise. The items stolen included a corsage, tweezers, a curling iron, Lindor chocolates and lunch meat.

Police say the 14-year-old was released to the custody of her mother.
