According to Houston police, Damaris Gonzalez's family members grew concerned after not hearing from her and went to her apartment in the 6100 block of Willowbend on November 9 to check things out.  When they arrived and the door was opened, they smelled a foul odor coming from inside.

Upon entering, the family discovered the 29-year-old woman's body wrapped in a comforter in a closet.

Police took Costello, 29, into custody and charged him the following day.

Houston police said she had been shot to death.  Earlier reports indicated Gonzalez was strangled.
