Electrical outlet sparks fire at southwest Houston home

HOUSTON – An electrical problem is to blame for what sparked a house fire in southwest Houston Thursday night.

Houston firefighters arrived to a home on Westella at Ashford Parkway around 10:45 p.m. and found flames coming from the side of the house.

Firefighters immediately started to tackle the flames and managed to contain the damage to the back room, where the fire started.

One adult and a dog was home at the time, and both  got out safely.

Investigators said there was a short in an electrical outlet in the bedroom.
