According to officers, the wreck happened just before midnight in the 8700 block of Cullen Boulevard and Knoxville Street. Investigators said the victim, Donald Brown, reportedly had poor vision. He was trying to cross Cullen Boulevard, when Watson was traveling southbound on Cullen in a Volkswagen Beetle hit Brown, 64, and killed him.

When police arrived at the scene, they found the victim lying in the street. According to investigators, Watson didn't stop at the scene.

Eventually, officers received a tip that he had driven to Pearland. Police said the driver got into a fight with his passenger, who investigators claim wanted Watson to turn around and head back to the scene of the crash.

Officers went to Pearland, where they arrested Watson. He later confessed to being the driver of the Volkswagen.

The driver was later transported by HPD officers to jail, where he remains in custody. No charges have been filed at this time, as the investigation is continuing.
