HPD arrests crime ring suspects

HOUSTON – Houston police officers arrested three men they say are connected to more than a dozen robberies and car break-ins across Houston and Harris County on Monday.

The men are identified as DeAndre James, 27, Chazz Davis, 29, and Carlos Rusi, 29.

Each man was in the process of being booked with an organized crime felony charge Monday afternoon.

The Houston Police Department said that earlier, its northeast tactical unit arrested the men moments after they allegedly broke into a bank customer's car and stole a backpack containing recently withdrawn money.

The customer had gone back into the bank for just a moment, police said.

"We've run into these guys before," Sgt. Art Bazan said. "We think they're connected to other crimes. Vehicle break-ins and robberies."

Police believe the men are bank juggers -- a term used to describe criminals who prey on bank patrons by watching them, following them and targeting them for either robbery or burglary.
