HOUSTON – The Harris County Sheriff's Department is investigating after a woman was found dead at an apartment in Katy.
Investigators arrived early Wednesday morning at the Park Row Apartments on Park Row Drive and Greenhouse Road.
According to deputies, 39-year-old Brandy Renger's body was found in the second-floor unit where she lived with her boyfriend, 19-year-old Jose Bustamante-Salas, and his mother.
Wednesday afternoon, crime scene investigators were looking at contents from inside Renger's jeep. They towed that vehicle, as well as a car that belongs to the boyfriend's family.
Bustamante-Salas told detectives he woke up Wednesday morning to find his girlfriend dead on the floor.
Detectives took Bustamante-Salas and his mother into custody. Bustamante-Salas now faces murder charges. Investigators said his story about what happened inside the apartment Wednesday morning changed. They also said Bustamante-Salas cleaned the apartment and changed his clothes before calling 911.
Investigators said Renger had blunt force trauma to her head, neck and upper body.
Autopsy results will determine the exact cause of death.
