Chevron Phillips breaks ground on new petrochemical plant in Sweeny

SWEENY, Texas – A huge improvement is underway at the Chevron Phillips chemical plant in Brazoria County.
The company broke ground to begin construction on two world-scale polyethylene units in Sweeny. The units will each produce a half million metric tons of plastic resin every year.

Chevron Phillips says the economic impact generated from this endeavor is significant with over 400 long-term direct jobs and 10,000 engineering, construction and fabrication jobs created.
