Prostitution bust ends with 5 women in jail

5 women arrested in Galveston after a prostitution bust.

Galveston – The Galveston Police Department said five women were put behind bars Thursday evening after a prostitution bust.

The Galveston Police Vice and Narcotics Division said it's officers conducted the sting after they noticed an increase in prostitution activity on the island.

A Galveston police officer went under cover and solicited known offenders to commit sexual acts for some type of payment.

Over the course of the evening, investigators arrested five women who were involved in proposition crimes.

Kerri McCrory, Rose Phillips, Veronica Serna, Lisa Simmons and Lillian Young were all charged.

Three of the women were charged with the offense of prostitution, which carries a $5,000 bond.

Police said the two other women had been arrested for prostitution once before. According to police, those women are now being charged with enhanced felony prostitution. Their bond is set at $60,000.
