HOUSTON – The family of a man who was electrocuted at the Hilton Westchase Hotel pool has reached an undisclosed financial settlement with a Houston electrical contractor.

"We've been able to reach an agreement with Brown Electric, one of the defendants in this case," attorney Stephen Loftin said.

Raul Hernandez, 27, was electrically shocked and killed following a malfunction with an underwater outdoor pool light last August.

A City of Houston Public Works inspector had leveled a civil violation against Charles L. Brown, 50, owner of Brown Electrical Inc. of northwest Houston, for substandard electrical work performed by employees of his company.

The Hernandez family has also filed suit against Hilton Westchase.

Two electricians have been charged with criminally negligent homicide in the case.
