19-year-old convicted in classmate's death

Alexander Olivieri killed Bridgett Frisbie

HOUSTON – A 19-year-old Katy man was found guilty Wednesday of killing a 17-year-old female friend.

Alexander Olivieri was charged with the murder in Bridgett Frisbie's death. Olivieri shot and killed Frisbie in April 2011.

The verdict came after about three hours of deliberations.

During testimony on Monday, Alan Perez testified he saw Olivieri shoot Frisbie in the back of the head. Perez has been given immunity in exchange for his testimony.

Prosecutors said Olivieri killed Frisbie because they had been involved in a drive-by shooting and he was afraid that she was going to tell police, which would ruin his chance of having a military career.

Olivieri's father, a science teacher at a Sugar Land middle school, was on the stand Tuesday. He testified his son was playing video games with Perez when he went to bed on the night prosecutors said Frisbie was killed.

Olivieri did not take the stand in his own defense.

The sentencing phase of the trial will begin Thursday. He faces up to life in prison.
