Summer camp can be tax deductible
Uncle Sam can help you cover the expense
No description foundHOUSTON – Summer camps for kids can cost big bucks, but some of that expense might be tax deductible.
The "child and dependent care credit" can cover expenses incurred during the summer and throughout the rest of the year.
The credit can be applied for children younger than 13.
The IRS said people who qualify for the credit can claim a day camp or an at-home baby sitter. Overnight camps do not qualify.
There are other rules, so be sure to check out the IRS website and search under "summer camp" for specifics.
