Man killed when trying to stop car burglary

2 teens wanted in David Albert Kelly's death

HOUSTON – A man was killed while confronting two men who were breaking into his girlfriend's car.

Grieving friends and family left flowers Monday as a memorial to 20-year-old David Albert Kelly.

Kelly was shot and killed Sunday morning when he tried to confront two teens breaking into his girlfriend's car outside their apartment on Airtex and Brundage in northwest Harris County.

Witnesses said Kelly, his brother and friends looked out the window and spotted two teenagers breaking into the car.

Kelly and his group ran outside and began chasing the teens, who took off running in different directions.

Within a few minutes, gunshots were heard coming from the apartment complex and Kelly was found facedown across the street.

He died at the scene.

The Harris County Sheriff's Office collected evidence and spoke with several witnesses, but the two gunmen got away. Descriptions of them have not been released.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 713-222-TIPS.
