HOUSTON – The Asia Society Texas Center is celebrating its new home in Houston's Museum District.
The outside of the center is a work of art with an infinity pool to welcome visitors. The inside is even more impressive with a performing arts theater, business meeting rooms, art exhibits and gardens.
The center shows Houston is an Asia Pacific city.
"The companies that are here, the trans-national companies, we have a lot of links, making us an Asia Pacific city." said Martha Blackwelder, the center director.
The mission is to bring Asians and Americans together through business and policy, arts and culture and education.
"Our growing Asian population, our trade with Asia and Asia's growth, the timing of the center's opening couldn't be better," said Blackwelder.
The Asia Society Texas Center, 1370 Southmore Blvd., opens Saturday with free festivities for the public.
