Devon Davis, 2, found dead after wandering away from home
CLEVELAND, Texas – A toddler who drowned in a pond near his family's new home was laid to rest Friday.
Devon Davis disappeared March 27 while his mother was taking a nap. The toddler wandered away, and was his body was found in a pond near his home four days later.
Family, friends and the men and women who spent hours searching for Devon gathered at Cornerstone Baptist Church to say goodbye to the boy with the fiery red hair.
A fire engine carried Devon's small casket.
Law enforcement officers honored the boy's parents with a flag presentation. They said it was a symbol of the legacy Devon will leave behind as a little soldier and fighter who loved life.
A prayer was held outside after the service, then family members gathered for a final moment of silence. They let go of balloons to send them to Devon in Heaven.
