Bugs take over couple's apartment

HOUSTON – A husband and wife living at a Westchase area apartment complex said bugs, big and small, have taken up residence in their home.

"You can feel them crawling on you, moving on you," Walter Richardson said.

Local 2 Investigates caught footage of the bugs. There appear to be several different varieties.

Richardson told Local 2 investigates he has complained about the problem several times to the management team at The Landing at 9797 Meadowglen in west Houston.

An exterminator did treat the apartment, more than once, according to Richardson, but it hasn't worked.

Local 2 Investigates tried to talk about the issue with two employees who would not identify themselves.

"We have no comment at this time. We are doing everything, but have no comment" said one employee

About a half-hour later, Local 2 investigates cameras witnessed an exterminator enter the property.

The Richardsons said they would like to move to another unit.

The family, and others in Houston with similar situations, does have options. Call 311 and ask to speak to the city's Habitability Section. An inspector will check the property and could fine the complex. If all else fails contact, your Justice of the Peace and ask for a hearing. They can order the apartment to dissolve the lease.
