LEAGUE CITY, Texas – A high school coach committed suicide after being accused of having an inappropriate relationship with a student, detectives said.
League City police said a parent reported Sunday that they suspected that Chad Hunt, a coach at Clear Creek High School for five years, had an inappropriate relationship with their daughter.
Investigators said they went to the school Tuesday to talk to Hunt. He agreed to go to the police station, where he was formally interviewed, officials said.
Hunt left the police station after the interview, police said.
The school placed Hunt on administrative leave pending the outcome of the investigation.
Hunt was found dead inside a Jeep in Brazoria County Wednesday morning, detectives said. He died from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound, police said.
Detectives said they have suspended their investigation into the allegation.
KPRC Local 2 has learned the name of the girl, but has a policy to not identify possible sex crime victims.
