Investigators said the incident began at 5 p.m. when Vaclavik hit a woman's vehicle as she backed out of her driveway on Wilson Street.

Police said after that crash, Vaclavik drove a short way and then hit another car parked on the street.

Vaclavik then headed into downtown, investigators said. Police said they found Vaclavik about an hour after the two wrecks. He was a mile away and his car was parked on top of a fence, officers said. Vaclavik was sitting on the sidewalk, officers said.

Court records showed Vaclavik was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to stop and give information.

Local 2 Investigates left a message to speak to Vaclavik at an address listed as his home. He has not returned a phone call.

Vaclavik was the chief fraud examiner for the financial crimes division of the district attorney's office.

District Attorney Pat Lykos asked the judge to appoint an outside prosecutor for the case to avoid any conflict of interest.

The district attorney's office released a statement that read, in part, "The district attorney has commissioned an internal disciplinary review of the circumstances related to Mr. Vaclavik's arrest. Mr. Vaclavik has been an employee of the District Attorney's office since 1993."

Vaclavik's next court appearance is scheduled for July 25.
