1 killed after truck crashes into tree in southeast Houston

HOUSTON – A person was killed and another was injured Monday after a crash in southeast Houston.

Authorities said a white truck slammed into a tree in the center median in the 9900 block of Windmill Lakes Boulevard around 7:45 p.m.

The people inside the vehicle became trapped, and the Houston Fire Department had to cut the roof off the vehicle to reach the victims.

One person was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Another person was taken by ambulance to a hospital. That person's condition was not immediately known.
