1 dead, 2 injured in east downtown shooting

HOUSTON – Two shootings unfolded early Saturday morning, starting with a man shot after stepping on another man's dog, Houston police say.

A man and a woman brought a small dog to Neil's Bahr in east downtown Houston, police said.

Another man, a patron, stepped on the dog in passing, sparking a fight between the two men.

The dog owner pulled out a gun and shot the other man in the arm, according to police. That man was taken to the hospital.

With police and emergency vehicles at the scene, an SUV pulled up and the driver asked officials for help, police said.

All men in the car had been shot, one of them fatally, police said.

Police said they believe the second shooting may have happened at the intersection of Jefferson and Hamilton streets.
