3 new Zika cases reported in Galveston County

All three cases are travel-related, officials say

GALVESTON, Texas – The number of people with the Zika virus in Galveston County has doubled.

The county's health district confirmed three new travel-related cases of the virus Wednesday.

One of the new cases is a woman in her 30s who recently traveled to the Virgin Islands.

The other two are a woman in her 50s who recently went to Mexico, and a man in his 40s who recently went to Venezuela.

The health district said there is no evidence of local transmission.

The three additional cases bring the number of Zika virus cases in Galveston County to six.
