Houston ranked No. 1 as America’s ‘textiest’ city for Valentine’s Day 💘

New data from AT&T shows Houston led the nation in Valentine’s Day texts in 2024 and 2025, sending 1.5 million more messages than any other city

HOUSTON – Love is apparently bigger and textier in Texas.

If your phone is already buzzing with heart emojis and dinner plans, you’re not alone and if you’re in Houston, you’re leading the nation.

According to new Valentine’s Day texting data released by AT&T, based on activity across its network, Houston ranked number 1 in the country for Valentine’s Day texts and back-to-back in 2024 and 2025.

And it wasn’t even close.

AT&T says Houston sent 1.5 million more texts on Valentine’s Day than any other U.S. city.

❤️ Houston tops the love charts

In its Valentine’s Day analysis, AT&T looked at texting data across its network to determine the top 10 “textiest” cities in the U.S.

Here’s what the company found:

  • Houston ranked No. 1 for Valentine’s Day texting in both 2024 and 2025.
  • Houston sent 1.5+ million more texts than any other city on the holiday.
  • Four of the top 10 cities were in Texas in 2025.
  • Six out of 10 cities on the list are in the South.

AT&T summed it up this way: “Love is heating up deep in the heart of Texas.”

📱 Texting: The modern-day love letter

AT&T described texting as Cupid’s new arrow — calling it the “modern-day love letter.”

From:

  • Galantine’s Day group chats
  • Sweet messages from mom
  • Securing a dinner date
  • Asking someone to be your Valentine

The company says texting has become one of the easiest and most popular ways to express love.

🤠 Texas puts the “TEX” in texting

It’s not just Houston showing up for Valentine’s Day.

According to AT&T, four Texas cities landed in the top 10 in 2025, reinforcing the idea that everything really is bigger in Texas — including love notes sent by text.

The majority of cities making the list were in warmer, southern climates, with six out of 10 located in the South.
