KPRC 2 Senior Scholarship: Meet Funmilola Afolabi, a standout senior with goals to help underserved communities

KPRC 2 and American Furniture Warehouse are surprising 20 deserving high school seniors with scholarships in 2024. All students selected for scholarships have been nominated by their high schools.

The second $2,500 scholarship winner of the year is Funmilola Afolabi, a standout senior at Alief ISD’s Elsik High School.

Afolabi is a scholar-athlete who keeps busy as the Drum Major for the Mighty Rams Marching Band in addition to serving as team captain for Varsity Volleyball and Varsity Track & Field. She also contributes to her school’s Student Council, Students for Christ, and on the Elsik Principal’s Student Advisory Council.

Afolabi has her sights set on becoming a nurse practitioner with a goal of helping people in underserved communities. She would like to attend Emory University in Atlanta.
