Garth Brooks promises lots of rodeo songs at Houston Rodeo concerts

HOUSTON – Country music superstar Garth Brooks promised fans lots of rodeo songs at his opening and closing concerts at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo.

Brooks will perform at NRG Stadium on Tuesday night – the first time he has played the rodeo since 1993. He also played the event in 1991.

“This is neat,” Brooks said. “It’s great to finally be here.”

Brooks said he is honored to be opening and closing the rodeo. He said he is excited to break in the new star-shaped stage. He said he expects to learn a lot during Tuesday night’s concert, and he will use what he learns to improve the closing concert on March 18.

Brooks said that playing the rodeo is fun because of the family-friendly feel.

“Now, you get to sing all your rodeo songs,” Brooks said. “That’s fun.”

The concert is expected to last about an hour, Brooks said.

Brooks said that his goal is that if fans attend both concerts, they won’t be able to choose their favorite.
