Food Network getting trolled for posting peanut butter slices recipe

Recipe called "brilliant peanut butter hack you never knew you needed"

SAN ANTONIO – The Food Network posted a recipe for peanut butter slices to Facebook and it’s getting trolled hard, for seemingly underestimating even the most basic cooks.

After all, who doesn’t know how to make a peanut butter sandwich?

The Food Network posts a variety of recipes on its Facebook page aimed at cooks of varying degrees of experience and skill.

In the video, the food blogger says there are “little slices of meat, little slices of cheese, pickle slices … why aren’t there peanut butter slices?” And then she proceeds to demonstrate how to make peanut butter slices at home.

First, you spread the peanut butter on parchment paper, then you fold the paper in half and roll the peanut butter out with a rolling pin. Then, you freeze the peanut butter in the parchment paper.

“The next morning it’s frozen! And then you can take little kitchen shears and cut little squares out of it and then throw them back in the freezer and you have a stack of peanut butter slices and you just slap it on, and it’s ready for you and it’s not going to rip your bread,” the blogger said.

Many of the commenters on the post seem to agree that the process - which is supposed to be a mom "hack" - is actually much more difficult than just spreading the peanut butter on the bread.

"Who actually has one of those honey dipper wands? What is she the Honey Nut Cheerios Bee? Give me a break. We all pour honey out of the head of a plastic bear. On another note... that was FAR too much work. Peanut butter is one of the most spreadable substances in existence." - Austin Beber

"I feel like it's a problem the people on infomercials have; try to spread peanut butter, bread tears, knock jar out of window, kitchen catches on fire, car explodes." - Steven Chin

"Or you could simply spread the peanut butter on the bread with a butter knife like our heathen ancestors of old." - Jack Blue
