'Gilmore Girls' fans in Houston get Luke's Diner experience

HOUSTON – "Gilmore Girls" fans got the Luke's Diner experience Wednesday at three Houston coffee shops.

Hundreds of people visited The Nook Cafe, Honeymoon and Bosta in celebration of the 16th anniversary of the "Gilmore Girls" TV series. The Houston coffee shops, along with hundreds of others across the country, sported special Luke’s Diner hats and aprons for staff along with coffee cups and cup liners.

The cups themselves offered quotes from the original seven seasons of the show along with a few quotes from the upcoming mini-series.

When asked if they were excited to hear about the pop-up diners one fan responded, “So my friend and web girl text me last night and she’s like ‘do you know Gilmore girls?’ and I was like ‘only just every episode from every season. Seen it like three times. Did you know it’s 52 days until the Netflix release?’”

Now it’s only 51 days.

The first 250 fans were able to grab a free cup of coffee starting a 7 a.m. Wednesday.

Though the free cups were quickly gone, cafes kept their Luke’s appearances until noon.

Lorelai, Rory and Luke will return with a four-part series on Netflix Nov. 25.
