HOUSTON – Between long commutes and paying for child care, the standard 9 to 5 job doesn't work for everyone. But there are still good-paying jobs you can do where ever you are. All you need is a computer and reliable internet service to make anywhere from $12 to $45 an hour.
"A lot of these jobs are great," said Kyle James, author and founder of the blog Rather Be Shopping. "You can work from home; and you can set your own hours with many of them."
Despite the name of his website, James knows before you can spend money, you have to earn it. He did the research and found 11 work from home jobs that pay $12 an hour or more. There are positions you may never have heard of, like a search result evaluator.
"Search engines like Google, they want to maintain their search results," James explained. "Basically what you do is look through specific search results for specific key words. And you make sure that Google's bringing back the best results for the user. And they're gonna pay you for it."
The pay for a search result evaluator ranges between $12 and $15 an hour.
If you can listen to audio and type out what you hear, you can be a transcriber and make up to $25 an hour. Websites like Transcribe Me send you short audio clips. When you send them the transcription, they send you money. Some jobs like online tutoring via Skype require experience, but pay up to $45 an hour. Others require no experience: like being a customer service representative for Amazon or CVS.
"They're willing to train you, so they're kind of entry level jobs," said James. "But they pay pretty well, typically at least $12 to $14 an hour."

Remember, you should never pay to make money. Any job that asks you to send cash for materials or to get started is probably not legitimate.
