Homedics recalls handheld massagers over burn, shock risk

Homedics is recalling about 400,000 handheld massagers because the cord can break near the base, exposing the wires and posing electric shock and burn hazards.

The company has received 140 reports of exposed wires, sparks, smoking and some shooting flames coming from the massagers and 15 reports of burn injuries to consumers.

Three models are included in the recall. The massagers were sold at stores nationwide from Aug. 2013 through Feb. 2017.
