Go vote, get free stuff

As if being a good citizen wasn't reason enough, some local businesses are offering freebies to encourage you to go vote.

Show your voting ticket receipt anytime through next week at Michael's Cookie Jar on 5330 Weslayan in West University or in the tunnels downtown at 711 Louisiana and you'll get a one-ounce oven fresh cookie for free.

Your "I voted" sticker at Krispy Kreme at 8611 Westheimer near Fondren will get you a free glazed doughnut anytime through Election Day.

Then swing by any Firehouse Subs location for a free medium drink when you flash that voting swag.

To make sure you have time to head to the polls, all Houston-area YMCAs are offering 2 free hours of childcare on election day for children 6 months through 11-years-old. You don't have to be a member, but you do have to register in person before election day to reserve your time slot. For more details, visit your local YMCA.
