Cable, satellite fees expected to climb in 2016, and other business news

Customers of AT&T, DirecTV, Dish and Time Warner Cable could see their bills climb next month.

The companies are all planning to increase fees for premium channels, base packages, bundles and equipment fees. The average consumer will see a jump between $10-20 per month. DirecTV and AT&T's Uverse announced rate hikes last week, while Time Warner Cable and Dish Network are expected to follow suit.

In other business news, Netflix is once again helping parents fool kids on New Year’s Eve. The streaming giant has added a whole new set of on-demand midnight countdowns, which will allow children to ring in the New Year at any time.

The countdowns feature classic characters like Care Bears, Inspector Gadget and more.
