HOUSTON – For families with young girls who love playing dress up, Hot Stamps and Hot Huez are probably two of the products at the top of their wish list.
The infomercial for Hot Stamps promises stylish designs, like peace signs and hot pink hearts, to add some flair to your hair. Hot Huez comes with a similar pitch. It packs four shades of hair chalk to give highlights that pop.
Channel 2 consumer expert Amy Davis saw the As Seen on TV commercials and decided to take the two products on a test drive. She convinced her two young nieces to give both a whirl.
Hot Stamps cost $19.95, but was harder to use than the advertisement suggested. The blue stars and pink hearts came out more like blue blobs and pink patches. It also ran out of glitter gel just after a dozen or so stamps.
Amy and the girls had much more luck with Hot Huez. Just slide the chalk across locks of hair, and the colors come out. Of course, the lighter the hair color, the brighter the hue.
