Miller Lite brews up free beer delivery service

HOUSTON – Miller Lite is making beer runs for free in four U.S. cities.

Miller-Coors, LLC teamed up with the e-commerce company Drizly, Inc. to create a web store, where people can buy 12- and 24-packs of Miller Lite and have local retailers deliver it for free. The start-up's technology helps retailers ensure the age of buyers, and in return, liquor stores can pay to use the system.

The brewer started posting ads on Twitter that read "Ran out of beer? Sit tight. We got you. Free delivery and we'll make it happen in 60 minutes or less. Order now." For now, the service is only in Boston, New York, Seattle and Washington.

Rival brewing giant Anheuser-Busch InBev NV is reportedly working on e-delivery for its own beers.
