Meet Fitz and Emma: Houston Zoo's baby jaguars

HOUSTON – The newest additions to the Houston Zoo made their debut Thursday.

Two jaguar cubs, named Fitz and Emma, were born four months ago, and have been spending time with their mother, Maya.

On Thursday, the pair began exploring their habitat with their mom. The cats will be in view of the public most mornings, but they usually hang out in their cave in the evening, officials said.

These are the first jaguars to be born at the zoo in 12 years, officials said.

Jaguars cover a range that extends from South America to Central America, but some have ventured as far north as Mexico and the southwestern U.S.
