New, 50,000-square-foot Buc-ee's to open Monday in Katy

Fueling center boasts world's longest car wash

KATY, Texas – One of Texas' largest convenience stores and fueling centers is officially opening its doors in Katy at 6 a.m. Monday.

Buc-ee's new location off I-10 and the Cane Island Parkway -- the first Buc-ee's to open in the Houston suburb -- also includes a car wash that the Buc-ee's crew believes will be the largest and longest in the world, at 225 feet.

On Friday, first responders will get a sneak peek at the new location. Buc-ee's will hand out free food and drinks to first responders and their immediate families from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The Houston Business Journal reported the new Buc-ee's has unique design elements that are different from the other 24 locations.

The 50,000-square-foot, 100-pump mega-center is expected to bring about $25 million annually in sales tax to the city of Katy.

Buc-ee's are large stores with fueling areas that have 80-120 pumps for gas and diesel fuel. In addition to fuel, the stores offer their own line of Buc-ee’s brand merchandise, a variety of original recipes on top of a huge selection of food, as well as homemade fudge.
