Memorial Day weekend event will benefit Navy SEAL foundation

Memorial Day weekend is about more than pool parties, barbecues and time off from work. It's to honor and remember those who've died for our country.

One of those men is U.S Navy SEAL Danny Dietz, who was killed in 2005 in Afghanistan while on a mission with SEAL Team 10. His story was told in the book and movie "Lone Survivor."

The holiday weekend includes "The Danny Dietz Memorial Classic," which starts Friday and runs through Sunday at the Fort Bend County Fairgrounds in Rosenberg. His wife, Patsy Dietz, said the proceeds from the event benefit the Navy SEAL Foundation, which helps families of fallen Navy SEALs.

Admission to the fairgrounds is free for children younger than 14, and all veterans and military families.
