Executive Producer, Houston Life

KPRC 2 is looking for an Executive Producer to lead and evolve Houston Life into a modern, multi-platform content brand.

This role extends beyond traditional television.

While Houston Life produces a daily 60-minute show, this position is responsible for growing a broader content ecosystem that connects audiences, community, and advertisers through meaningful storytelling across broadcast, streaming, digital, social, and live experiences.

You will help shape content that informs, entertains, and inspires Houstonians while driving audience growth, community engagement, and new revenue opportunities.

This is a senior leadership role for someone who can lead a successful daily show, build new content formats, and redefine how a local media brand creates value in a rapidly changing media landscape.

Key Responsibilities

Lead Houston Life’s Flagship Product

  • Maintain editorial and creative leadership of the daily Houston Life broadcast
  • Ensure the show consistently delivers compelling content, audience growth, and advertiser value
  • Partner with hosts, producers, and sales teams to evolve the show’s format and relevance
  • Identify opportunities to extend successful television content across digital, social, streaming, and live experiences

Build a Multi-Platform Content Brand

  • Evolve Houston Life from a daily broadcast into a multi-platform content brand
  • Develop repeatable content formats that extend beyond TV (digital series, social franchises, streaming-first content)
  • Create scalable content systems, not one-off segments

Lead Content That Serves Audience and Revenue

  • Partner with sales and marketing to develop integrated brand storytelling, not bolt-on sponsorships
  • Shape content that delivers value to both viewers and advertisers without compromising trust
  • Identify new revenue opportunities through content, partnerships, and experiences

Own the Full Content Ecosystem

  • Oversee the daily show as one product within a larger portfolio
  • Expand Houston Life’s presence across social, streaming, and emerging platforms
  • Drive consistency in voice, tone, and quality across all outputs

Build and Lead a Modern Content Team

  • Lead producers, hosts, and creators with a focus on innovation, speed, and platform-native thinking
  • Shift the team from “filling time” to creating content that performs
  • Foster a test-and-learn culture — new formats, new ideas, rapid iteration

Integrate with Audience Strategy

  • Work closely with Audience Growth to ensure content is packaged, distributed, and optimized for reach and engagement
  • Use audience insights to inform content decisions — not just instincts

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications, marketing, media studies, or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Proven experience leading content in a multi-platform environment (TV, digital, social, or branded content)
  • Creative instincts paired with a performance mindset (what works, why, and how to scale it)
  • Strong track record of building or evolving a content brand or franchise
  • Experience developing branded content or working with revenue teams on integrations
  • Deep understanding of how content performs across platforms —not just what “looks good on TV”
  • Ability to balance editorial judgment with business objectives
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to build, coach, and evolve teams
