Woman's Montgomery County home ransacked, service dog attacked

SPRING, Texas – A Spring woman is heartbroken after someone ransacked her home, stole hundreds of dollars, and even attacked her dogs.

The woman operates a pit bull rescue out of her Montgomery County home. One of animals that was injured was her personal service dog.

"Everything they took – the material things – it doesn't matter because my dogs are okay," said Jenny Romano.

On Wednesday night, someone broke into Romano's home while she was at church. They ransacked her closets and stole hundreds of dollars in cash.

She believes the thieves struck two of her pit bulls, leaving one named Princeton with a gash on his head that required stitches.

Princeton is a certified therapy dog and helps Romano deal with anxiety, PTSD, and depression. While he recuperates, those service duties are on hold.

Romano said the money that was stolen was earmarked for her organization, Maggie's House. It rescues and rehabilitates pit bulls.

"They're more than your best friend; they are your healing companion. It just changes the stereotype of the breed," said Romano.

Romano said she's filed a report with the Montgomery County Sheriff's Department. Though the crime is a setback, she said it won't stop her from her mission.

"Do I move? Do I stay? Do I live in fear? Do I continue my service work? Do I continue to train? Absolutely, I will not let anybody come against me. I know I have God on my side," said Romano.
