Woman killed while trying to jump from moving vehicle during fight, deputies say

HARRIS COUNTY, Texas – A woman was killed in a crash just after 9:30 p.m. Sunday on Highway 290 at Spring Cypress. Officials said she tried to jump from a vehicle during a fight.

According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, Renesha Smith, who was in the passenger's seat, tried to jump out of the moving Ford F-150. The driver, Jeremy Crow, tried to hold Smith in the truck when he lost control and hit a concrete divider, deputies said.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene. It is unclear if she jumped or was ejected from the vehicle, investigators said.

Crow was taken to Memorial Hermann Hospital, where he showed signs of impairment, investigators said.

The crash remains under investigation.
